New Sofa Table Decorating Dilemma

I am linking up to Amanda's Decorating Dilemma Party @ Serenity Now. I recently purchased this closeout sofa table at a local furniture store for $149 and I have been at a lost as to how to decorate it. It is very wide and very tall. I don't like its current sparse look but I also don't want to go overboard with accessories. I do like the set of candle holders I currently have on the top, so I will add some darker candles to it and keep them. I plan to get an small easel to display the framed cross, so I will keep that also. I am not tied to that vase that is currently sitting on the bottom shelf, so that will probably go. Unfortunately, I can't add any buffet lamps because I don't have any floor outlets and the wall outlets are too far away from the table and the cords would be a hazard. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Be sure to check out the rest of the party.

What a BEAUTIFUL table!! I am a little envious. ;)

What about a pair of larger black baskets for the bottom shelf? You could use them to store current magazines, maybe a throw blanket, or some books? The black might really make the gorgeous wood color pop.

I like the idea of darker candles, and the easel for the cross will be pretty. Maybe a bowl to hold some apples or lemons (fake or real) for some extra color.

You have a beautiful room. :)

Thanks for joining the party!

Hi, I'm stopping over from the decorating dilemmas party.
I LOVE the table. It looks much richer than the $149 price tag- good work!
Sounds like you have a good start. I would suggest one more large item in the center, like a large decorative plate on an easel, or a bowl like Amanda suggested. And I'm also going to echo the basket on the bottom idea.

Hi there, stopping by from Amandas.
I love the color of the table!
I also like the idea of baskets on the bottom or maybe even a few throw pillows on the bottom stacked. A vase with flowers? or maybe a tiered plate holder with ornate dishes in it. Also maybe a few books to laying in the center.
I am sure what ever you come up with will be BEAUTIFUL!

Gorgeous table! I think you're off to a great start with those candle holders...very pretty.

I agree with the suggestion to get two large baskets for the bottom shelf. They would add a lot of texture, and a dark color would add a lot of interest.

Thank you for sharing!

If you put the framed cross on an easel, I think you should move it up to the top of the table.

I think the bottom would look great with 2 cool bookends, with a collection of your favorite books in between them.

I think a pretty tea set would look beautiful on the top with the candlesticks and cross.

I love the table, looks great in your room :)

I really like the idea of an easel for the cross, then I would display on top with the candles stick and maybe a stack of nice books with an architectural thingy or basket on top?

I'd keep the bottom shelf simple, one long and low floral arrangement displayed in the center.

You have such great bones to work with, good luck!

Nice find! I'm not sure how your home is on storage, but what about adding a row of baskets along the bottom (maybe in a natural wicker: http://images.smarter.com/blogs/guests/jcpenney%20wicker%20baskets.JPG). I think the top would be a perfect place to switch out seasonal displays!

I think the baskets are a fabulous idea. There is never enough storage. I also think the cross should come to the top. How about placing it on top of a stack of old books?
