Bargain Find of the Week

IMG_5746

This week’s bargain find came from Ross for $4.99. This rubber scroll mat is a good find in its self, but I don’t have a need for a new door mat so I have other plans for it. Here are a couple of possibilities:

Horchow Leather Tapestry

Maybe I could use it as a stencil to create a wall tapestry inspired by this $699 one from Horchow.

AccentsofSaladowallgrille

Or maybe I could do a faux paint treatment on it to have it resemble iron like this $215 iron wall grille from Accents of Salado and hang it on the wall. But whatever I decide to do with it I will probably be sure to get my $4.99’s worth out of it.

What a fantastic idea. I found a wrought iron piece in the community trash week that is so similar that I did a double take.... I can't wait to see how you decorate with this!

I have nominated you for a blog award, check it out here. http://frugalmissus.blogspot.com/2009/11/i-have-been-given-award.html I hope it brightens your day as much as you've brightened mine.

Hi Annette...

My friend, it's been a little while since I've been by for a visit and when I seen this post pop up...I just had to come by! I seen the photo of your scrolly mat...I just love anything "scrolly"! Hehe! I love, love, LOVE that gorgeous tapestry from Horchows! I think your mat would make the perfect stencil for that project! Can you believe the cost of that tapestry? Eeekks! Well, whatever you decide to do...I know it'll be fabulous!!!

I just spent some time going through your last few posts...Girl, you are so creative and talented!!! I just love the shadow boxes that you made...they turned out beautifully! I really would love to make one like that...thank you so much for the instructions! I think that adding those beautiful, ornate crosses were perfect! Ohhh...and I love your new chalkboard too! Gorgeous!!! You sound like me...when I see something I like, I just try to recreate it myself...it's so much more fun!

Thank you for sharing your pretties with us today...fabulous projects!!!

Warmest wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design

I just found that EXACT mat at Ross a few days ago! I saw on another blog that the girl used a mat as a stencil to create 2 wall panels and they looked really good! I found another mat I really liked with a geometric print, but the lines were not very clean/crisp, so I knew the design would be messed up. I plan on doing that here--I'm going to try to find the blogger for you.

How creative! Such a good idea. I'd love to find 2---at that price--to put on the wall above our corner fireplace. I say again, how creative!
